Welcome back for another capsule wardrobe post. Fall is always a great season to dress for, so I am excited to share my mom fall capsule wardrobe for 2024!!

If you are new to my mom-friendly capsule wardrobe series that I do here at TWHL, then let me tell you a little about it! Each season, I put together an easy-to-style mom capsule wardrobe to help moms feel a little more put together in their everyday lives.
I believe that getting dressed should be the easiest part of your day, yet so many women, especially moms, feel overwhelmed by what to wear. Having a capsule wardrobe can help take the guesswork out of getting dressed. With a few versatile, go-to pieces, you’ll always have something to wear that makes you feel confident and put together, without the stress of sorting through a cluttered closet.
What’s in my Mom Fall Capsule Wardrobe
Fall is one of my favorite seasons to dress for, so I had a lot of fun picking out the pieces to include in this capsule. There are a lot of really fun fall trends this year, so I wanted to include a few that I am really loving. I also added a few repeats in this capsule from my Spring Capsule Wardrobe and Teacher Capsule Wardrobe. I often repeat items from my older capsule, because I think it’s important to remember that a capsule wardrobe is meant to be built upon. Each season you can add new pieces to your wardrobe to refresh your outfits, but you should still use the other clothes in your closet.
My hope is that you can use this capsule wardrobe as a guide to create your own, reflecting your unique style, lifestyle needs, and personality. I always recommend starting with your own closet to see what you already have, using those items as the foundation of your capsule. As you assess what you own, keep a shopping wishlist of pieces that could enhance your wardrobe. Tops:
- Black T-shirt – A black base shirt is a must for me. For fall, I’m going with a crew neck t-shirt because that seems to be the most-worn style of basic top in my closet, but I encourage you to go with a style that suits you.
- White Ribbed T-Shirt (small) – I love this ribbed white shirt from Amazon. It’s perfect for layering under cardigans and jackets in the fall, but it’s also a great basic to have in your wardrobe year-round.
- Chambray Shirt – Denim is on trend this fall, so I feel this chambray shirt is the perfect way to incorporate that trend into this capsule. Unfortunately, my Loft chambray shirt is no longer in stock, but I’ve found some other great options to share with you.
- Graphic Sweatshirt (small)– Once the weather cools down, I love a good sweatshirt. This coffee sweatshirt from Maurices is so soft and comfortable! It’s not overly heavy, which makes it great for layering over and under clothes.
- Graphic Tee (xsmall) – I always feel that graphic tees are a mom staple, whether you wear them at home or to your kids’ sporting events. It’s nice to get some ideas on how to style graphic tees. This State graphic tee is a cute way to show off your state pride, plus the neutral color makes it easy to style.
Layers
- Denim Jacket (small) – I will always include a denim jacket (unless it’s winter) in my capsule wardrobes. They have always been my go-to layering piece. For this capsule, I went with my Liverpool denim jacket. This is one of my favorite denim jackets. The quality and fit is amazing! I also highly recommend the denim jacket from ABLE if you want a great option. I’ve also linked some of my favorite affordable options as well if you are still searching for the perfect denim jacket!
- Striped Lady Cardigan (small)– I am a huge fan of the lady jacket trend. I find it to be such a classic look. I included this Amazon lady cardigan in my spring capsule wardrobe, and I had to bring it back for fall.
- Shaker Stitch Cardigan (xsmall) – This shaker stitch cardigan from Old Navy was in my teacher capsule last month, so I had to include it in this capsule as well. It’s a great layering piece for fall!
- Houndstooth Blazer (xsmall)– Blazers are a great layering piece during those in-between seasons of spring and fall. I often think some women are intimidated by blazers because they associate them with professional or dressier outfits. However, I find blazers a great way to elevate my casual mom style. This houndstooth blazer from maurices is perfect for casual wear. The colors are ideal for fall, and the material is nice and soft.
Bottoms:
- Cropped Kick Flare Jeans (24/petite, run big)– These cropped kick flare jeans from LOFT are one of my favorite pairs this fall. I love the kick flare style.
- Black Straight-Leg Jeans (25/short)– Black jeans are always a fall wardrobe staple. I wear them all the time. My favorite style of jeans at the moment is the ultra-high rise straight ankle jeans from Abercrombie. I have them in a few different washes that I bought in prior seasons. This year, I bought them in black.
- Pop of Color Wide-Leg Pants (0/short) – I love having a pop of color in my pants. There are so many great colors trending this fall, and one of my favorites is berry. When I found these wide-leg cropped pants from maurices, I knew I had to include them in my mom fall capsule wardrobe because they are so cute and comfortable.
- Olive Green Joggers (xsmall) – These olive green joggers from Gibsonlook were a last-minute addition to this capsule wardrobe (this is why my hair looks different in the outfit pictures below). I wanted to include some comfy casual pants, so when I got these joggers in the mail last week, I knew I had to add them. If you’re looking to invest in some great loungewear, these joggers are perfect. I have a feeling I’ll be wearing them a lot this fall.
- Leopard Slip Skirt (xsmall, runs big) – If you haven’t heard, leopard is trending this fall, but for me, leopard is always on trend in my wardrobe. I love leopard slip skirts. My skirt is from Macy’s, and I’ve linked some other options above.
Shoes:
- Black Mary Jane Flats (7.5) – Mary Jane flats are a fall shoe trend that I love. They are so easy to style. My pair is from Walmart, but I’ve also linked some other options for you to shop.
- Black Toe Slingback Flats (7.5)– This style of shoe is my favorite! It’s such a classic look. This pair is so comfortable, and again, they go with everything!
- Sneakers (7)– As a mom, sneakers are always an essential part of my wardrobe. I wear them all the time, so of course, I had to include a pair in this capsule. This season, I’m keeping it affordable with this comfy pair of sneakers from Walmart. These are a great option if you love the style of Adidas Sambas but don’t want to spend that much. They come in many different color options.
Accessories:
- Black Belt – Belts are always a great accessory to have. I find that they help complete my outfits. Most of my belts are from Amazon, including the one I’m sharing today. It comes in a 2-pack, so you get two color options to choose from.
- Baseball Cap – I always include a baseball cap in every mom capsule wardrobe. They are one of my favorite mom-friendly accessories. My favorite brand is the ’47 Clean Up hat. My gray Tigers hat gets worn the most because the color goes with everything.
