One of my favorite colors to wear this fall has been brown—specifically, chocolate brown. In the past, I found this color challenging to pair with other pieces in my closet. But this fall, I’ve realized that brown works with so many options. Today, I’m sharing eight outfits to show you how to wear brown this fall.
Last spring, I wrote a blog post styling brown pants (read it [here]). I had no idea at the time that brown would become such a staple color in my wardrobe. This fall, I’ve added a couple of brown pieces to my closet that I’ve been absolutely loving.
My brown Time and Tru pants from Walmart have been such a great find. These pants have a slight barrel shape but a straighter cut than traditional barrel jeans, which makes them a little less intimidating to wear. They’re the perfect pair to dress up for the office or wear casually on the weekend.
I also have a couple of brown sweaters that I’ve been reaching for constantly. For an affordable option, my Anrabess V-neck sweater from Amazon is a great choice (featured in the outfits below). I love its rich color, and I’ve been wearing it non-stop.
Another lightweight sweater I can’t get enough of is my cashmere sweater from Quince (not featured in this post). It’s so soft I could wear it every day—and at only $50, it’s an amazing price for cashmere!
How to Wear Brown This Fall
Outfit 1: Brown + Classic denim
Brown and classic medium-wash denim make one of the easiest fall combinations. You can really wear this color with any wash, light or dark, but I love how the chocolate tones in the sweater warm up the blue. It gives the outfit such a cozy, timeless look!

Outfit 3: Brown + Brown Print
Pairing brown with a darker printed skirt keeps the look tonal yet interesting. Mixing shades and textures within the same color family adds depth without feeling too matchy-matchy. It’s an easy way to make brown feel feminine and effortlessly flowy.

Outfit 7: Brown + Rusty Floral
When you pair brown with a warm floral print, you instantly get that “autumn in a blouse” effect. The shared undertones keep the look cohesive, while the pattern adds personality. It’s perfect for anyone who wants to wear color without being too bold.
