When it comes to how to wear black jeans for fall, my answer is simple: with everything! Black jeans are my all time favorite fall staples! They go with literally everything in my closet and instantly make an outfit look polished. Today I’m sharing 4 easy outfits I styled around my latest purchase of wide-leg black jeans.
Petite-Friendly Black Jeans for $28
Let’s talk about the jeans! These black wide-leg jeans are from Target and they’re only $28, which I think is such an amazing price for such a good pair of jeans! They are thick and a little more structured, but they have a good amount of stretch to them. I recently compared them to my Spanx jeans, and honestly these are such a great alternative to the more expensive pairs out there.
These jeans do run a little small, so keep that in mind. I sized up to a 2, which fit me comfortably. For the inseam, I got the short length, which has a 30 inch inseam. For me, at 5’1″, a 30 inseam is usually the inseam that looks best with heels on me. It’s a little long for me to wear with sneakers, but that’s okay, because in my wardrobe, I like to have a variety of of different inseams. It just gives me more shoe options.
Since I wear them with heels, I love dressing them up. They’re perfect for work, a coffee date, or anytime you want a more elevated fall outfit. Here are 4 ways that I am styling these black jeans this fall!

Outfit 1: Plaid Blazer + Olive Top

A blazer instantly elevates black jeans. I paired them with an olive tee, a classic plaid blazer, brown boots, and my black tote. This is my go-to for work days or anytime I want to look put-together with zero effort.
Shop this look:
- Black wide-leg jeans (2/short)
- Olive sweater tee (small)
- Plaid blazer (similar)
- Brown boots
- Black tote (similar)

Outfit 2: Denim Chore Jacket + Striped Tee

For a casual weekend look, I threw a light-wash denim chore jacket over a classic striped tee. Nude booties and a cognac bag keep it simple and effortless. This is what I’d wear on the weekends on an outing with my family.
Shop this look:
- Black wide-leg jeans (2/short)
- Striped tee (similar)
- Denim chore jacket (xsmall)
- Nude booties (7.5)
- Cognac shoulder bag

Outfit 3: Cream Cable-Knit Cardigan

Nothing says fall like a cozy cable-knit cardigan. The cream color against the black jeans is such a pretty contrast, and the cognac crossbody and nude booties keep it polished. I’d wear this for a coffee date or lunch with a friend.
Shop this look:
- Black wide-leg jeans (2/short)
- Cream cable-knit cardigan
- Nude botties (7.5)

Outfit 4: Chambray Shirt + Sweater Over Shoulders

This one is a little preppy and I love it. A chambray button-down with a cream sweater draped over my shoulders takes the simplest pieces and makes them look so intentional. The woven leather cognac bag pu it all together.

- Black wide-leg jeans (2/short)
- Chambray button-down shirt (small)
- Tan cropped cardigan (xsmall)
- Nude botties (7.5)
