Mom-Friendly Bathing Suits

It’s the one thing about summer that we all dread…. bathing suit shopping. I’ve always loved bathing suits, but I never enjoyed shopping for them. You just never know how it’s going to fit and how you will feel while wearing a bathing suit. I don’t really think it matters what your size is, you never know how you’re going to feel while wearing a bathing suit.

When I became a mom, I knew that my bathing suit style was going to change. I’ve worn bikini’s since I was 13, but after having a baby, a two-piece just doesn’t feel the same anymore. After having a baby and also having a c-section, I just feel more comfortable when my belly is covered. That’s why lately I’ve been shopping for one-piece bathing suits. One-pieces aren’t just nice for having extra coverage, they are also more practical for swimming in. If you are a mom of young children like me, you know that your pool and beach days are not as relaxing as the days of your 20’s. Last summer, Jack had no fear of the water, so my pool days were spent holding him, making sure he didn’t jump in the water without me. This summer he’s just as busy. I need a suit that I can play in and swim in without worrying about being exposed to. But I also don’t want to look like a granny, if you know what I mean. I still want to feel youthful.

When I first learned that PinkBlush carried swimwear, I knew they would have the perfect mom suit for me. I ended up picking out this red woven knot back one-piece bathing suit. I’m always super nervous when I order a suit online, but just like everything else from PinkBlush, this suit did not disappoint. It fits very true to size (I’m wearing a small). I absolutely love the cut on this suit. The front is low cut and shows just the right amount of skin. It’s perfect for all you nursing mamas out there looking for a good nursing friendly suit. I wasn’t sure at first how I felt about the red, but I went for it anyway and I’m so glad I did. I love the red! It’s so classic and fun. I know it will be perfect for the 4th of July. To make sure that this bathing suit passed the test of mom-friendly, we went to one of the resort pools here in Vegas for the afternoon and I wore my new red suit. It definitely passed the test. I didn’t have any problems with it sliding down or coming off. Even when Jack used me to crawl up because he was too afraid to touch the floor, my bathing suit stayed in place. I felt comfortable and confident while wearing this suit and I think that’s very important for us moms to feel that way. By the way, excuse my cranky toddler’s face in these photos. He doesn’t always enjoy stopping what he’s doing to take pictures with his mama.

Kimono Outfit for Spring

Sometimes I like to get out of my comfort zone and try out something new that I normally wouldn’t wear. It’s always nice to get away from neutral colors and stripes every now and again. Lately, I’ve been loving floral prints and bright spring colors. Whenever I need a good floral print, I always like to browse my favorite online boutique, PinkBlush. When I came across this floral chiffon kimono (HERE), I immediately started to brainstorm all the different ways that I could wear it in the upcoming months. I like to layer a lot, but when it’s hot out, you can’t layer up. That’s why I felt this kimono would be the perfect way to still get away with wearing a layer over my tank tops and dresses this summer. I figured that I could also wear it as a bathing suit cover-up as well.

For today’s look, I put together a fun spring look with distress jeans, wedge sandals, and a black tank top. I cannot wait to wear this look!!

The Perfect Black Dress for Spring

People always think of spring dresses as floral prints and bright colors, but not for me. For me, my go-to spring dress is always a black dress. I can’t find anything wrong with the color black. It’s slimming, versatile, you can wear it year-round. A black dress is always a safe way to ease me out of my winter clothes and into my spring dresses.

I have a million back dresses in my closet (not literally, but I have A LOT of back dresses!!) That’s why I wanted to find something a little more trendy. I wanted a back dress that was different than just a sleeveless black sundress. My go-to place for affordable trendy clothes is always PinkBlush. This black cold shoulder dress (HERE) is exactly what I was looking for. I love the exposed shoulders. As a mom of a toddler, it’s hard to wear dresses that are off the shoulder, but this dress is perfect because it has a high neckline and off the shoulder sleeves. For the look below, I wore peep-toe booties, which I think are the perfect shoes for transitioning out of winter and into spring (or transitioning out of summer into fall). To accessorize, I felt like my leopard print clutch was the perfect way to add a pop to the black dress.

Making the Most of Your Wardrobe- Leopard Pocket Cardigan

One of my favorite clothing items in my closet for winter are long cardigans. I love them and I could wear them everyday. That’s why I have to get creative with how I wear my cardigans. My latest favorite cardi is from PinkBlush. I love it because it’s different than all my other cardigans. It’s made out of a soft velour material, which is super warm and cozy. Another unique thing about this cardigan is the leopard pockets. I thought that was a fun touch. As much as I love this cardigan, it’s a little more trendy than my other cardi’s in my closet. A trendy cardi like this can get old fast if you don’t find new ways to wear it. Luckily it goes with almost anything. I’ve put together 3 casual looks for today’s post wearing this PinkBlush cardigan.

I wore a simple neutral-colored shirt under the cardigan with jeans and flats. It’s very simple and easy to wear.

I wore all black underneath for this look. I always love to wear leggings and boots in the winter. A long cardigan like this is the perfect way to complete a legging look like this.

Of course, I had to style this cardigan with a striped top. Whenever I want to mix up my patterns, I always go with a stripe leopard combination. I wore distress jeans and booties to complete the look.

Starting a Fresh New Year

Thrifty Wife, Happy Life- Starting a fresh year with PinkBlush

I love starting a new year. It’s so fun to make new goals and have a fresh slate. I feel motivated and excited about all the possibilities for the year ahead.

This Christmas break was just what I needed. A long break off from work at home. Ever since I moved to Las Vegas, I have spent almost every one of my long breaks off work traveling to see family. This year we decided that we didn’t want to deal with the stress of traveling. I’m so glad that we stayed home because it was the perfect way to refuel myself.

To be honest, by the end of the break, I was ready to head back to work. I’m often overwhelmed and stressed by all my responsibilities, but to be honest, I like it. I like staying busy and always having some kind of project to work on. I’m very comforted by my daily routine. By staying home, it made me appreciate my job and my weekly routine.

I also realized that it’s not that easy staying home with a toddler all day. It always makes me sad that I didn’t get to be home with Jack those first 12 months because I feel like things would have been different. But now that he’s older, it takes a lot to keep him entertained. He definitely keeps me on my toes. And don’t even get me started on trying to get him down for a nap. I had to put him in the car every day and drive him around the block. It makes me happy to know that when I’m not with him during the week, he’s socializing and learning while he’s at school. That is his weekly routine and it’s comforting for him. With Jack being our first, it really is important to me that he has that time around other children. He’s so attached to me, so it makes me happy to know that he loves seeing all his teachers at his school too.

I’m not going to lie, I did enjoy lounging around the house in my pajamas all morning. I wore these PinkBlush pajamas (here) at every chance I had. Nothing against your traditional Christmas pajamas, but these pajama pants are perfect to wear year-round. I love having something to get ready for every morning, but sometimes it’s just nice to stay in my cozy jammies, drink an extra cup of coffee and watch some morning TV.

Now that I’m nice and refreshed, I’m hoping to start off my year on a clean slate. I went back to work this week, but luckily we don’t have kids until next week. I’m going to take this time to clean my classroom and prepare it for the rest of the school year. I have high hopes for 2018!

Cold Shoulder Winter Look with PinkBlush

I know that I’ve been sharing a lot of PinkBlush clothes lately, but I really can’t help myself. I love having the opportunity to share brands that I love with all of you, and PinkBlush is just one of those brands. Everything I have from them fits me perfectly. I also wanted to share a variety of clothes that they sell. They honestly have something for everyone.

When I came across this black cold shoulder tunic, I knew that I had to have it. Black has always been my favorite color to wear. I always say that it looks great on everyone because it does! I love how this top has a trendy look to it with the cold shoulders, but it’s not too trendy where it might go out of style too soon. I also love that it’s a flowy tunic. With my first pregnancy, I barely bought any maternity clothes. I just wore long tunics and tops that would go over my belly. I’m always thinking about a second pregnancy when I pick out my clothes and this top will be perfect to wear again one day when it’s time for another baby.

When it comes to accessories, I have been obsessing over gold lately. I’ve always worn silver jewelry with black, but I just love the way the gold pops against the black.
