If 2020 taught me anything at all, it’s that you can never have enough loungewear. Between being a stay-at-home-mom, spending half the year pregnant, and then going through a global pandemic, my wardrobe has officially shifted to the casual side. Leggings, joggers, and slippers are my new go-to daily clothes. I do miss wearing jeans and getting ready to go somewhere every day, but I just don’t feel the motivation to get out of my cozy clothes any time soon. That doesn’t mean that I’m not going to put together cute cozy outfits. Just because you are wearing loungewear all day, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t still feel cute and put together.
I’m going to say this with love, but ladies, please get out of your pajamas. (I’m telling you this as I write this post in my pajamas at 11 am 😂 but have no fear, I plan on getting ready once I’m done here.) Don’t get me wrong, pajamas are great, but if I stayed in my pajamas all day, I’d be wanting to take a nap. I wouldn’t be productive at all. As a stay-at-home-mom, I treat my job as a mom the same way I would treat an actual job. I wouldn’t go to work outside the house in my PJ’s, so why would I do my mom job in them?
Here are a few items that will help your cozy, casual stay-at-home-mom outfits feel a little more put together.
Leggings
Leggings can look really bad if you have the wrong pair. Find a pair of high-waisted quality leggings. Something that will suck in your mom bod and make you feel great about your body. My personal favorite leggings at the moment are my high-waisted leggings (HERE) from Aerie. They are so comfortable and affordable! You can usually find them on sale for under $12!
Joggers
I love a comfy pair of joggers. The key to finding good joggers that you will feel put together in is finding the right size. Don’t buy them too big. When you have a fitted pair of joggers it will make your cozy casual outfit look more put together. My favorite affordable joggers are at Old Navy (HERE). I recommend going down a size to help give you that fitted look. I also really love my draw-string leggings from Aerie (HERE). They have the look of joggers, but the feel of leggings.
Layers
Adding layers to my cozy look always helps me feel more put together. It just gives me the feeling that I tried. I like to layer with cardigans, scarves, vests, and jackets in the winter. You can check out my recent post on winter layered looks (HERE) to get more ideas on how to layer your cozy casual outfits!
Slippers
I love shoes and lately, I’ve developed quite the slipper obsession. I just like having some sort of shoe to go with my outfit, even if it’s a slipper. I have a couple different styles of slippers that you will see in my outfits below. Just like shoes, I like to have a nice variety of slippers. Of course, when I leave the house I put on a pair of shoes that can dress up my outfit a bit.
Here are some examples of my cozy, casual real-life stay-at-home-mom outfits that I’ve been wearing over the last month or so.
Maureen
Happy New Year Katie! So many cute looks that you have put together here. I love how simple these outfits are yet very chic. I try to get out of my pjs and I agree that it does wonders to be in something else than home clothes. I hope your week is going well so far and happy Wednesday!
