Have you seen the viral sweatpant jeans everyone is sharing this year? When I saw them, I had to check them out. Unfortunately, they’re $258, which is way out of my comfort zone budget. Luckily, I found some more affordable alternative options. So today, I want to share how to wear sweatpant jeans.

After searching online and watching reviews and videos, I decided to order the sweatpant jeans from Gap Factory and a pair from Amazon. (See my Try-On HERE!) Both were under $50! The Gap Factory jeans are lightweight, stretchy, and super comfortable. They come in petite sizes and three different wash options. Although I really loved this pair, I decided not to keep them. They only had the lighter wash available when I ordered them, and I felt they were too similar to my Dear John Denim Fiona jeans, which are also very stretchy and comfortable.
I ended up keeping the pair from Amazon. I really love the fit of these jeans. They don’t come in petite sizes, but the length isn’t too long. The 12-inch rise might be too high for some, but if you have a long torso like I do, you will love this! They smooth everything out and are so flattering. I love how they make my legs look so long!
Affordable Sweatpant Jeans vs. Rag and Bone Sweatpant Jeans
I haven’t personally tried the expensive Rag & Bone viral sweatpant jeans, but I’ve watched a lot of videos from other influencers who have shared them. What makes these jeans so unique is that they’re made from actual sweatpant material. The denim look is printed onto the fabric — even the front pockets are printed on.
The two pairs of jeans I shared are made from actual denim. They don’t have the same cozy feel as true sweatpants, but they’re so stretchy that they feel like you’re wearing sweatpants.
Personally, I think I prefer a jean that feels like sweatpants over a sweatpant that looks like jeans. Although the Rag & Bone jeans do a great job of looking polished, it’s hard to find a dupe that doesn’t end up looking a little cheap.
How to Wear Sweatpant Jeans
Today, I have 4 different sweatpants jeans outfits that you can wear this winter.
For sizing reference, I am 5’1 and 115lbs. I typically wear a 25/petite in pants, a small or xsmall in tops and a 7.5 shoe size.
Outfit 1: Turtleneck + Wool Coat
This is one of my favorite outfits! It’s so polished and chic, yet incredibly comfortable. You could wear this out to eat with your family, to work, on date night — really anywhere. I went with kitten-heel booties to give me just a little height with the jeans and completed the look with my chocolate brown wool coat from Quince.

Outfit 2: Pink Sweater + Platform Sneakers
This next outfit is more laid-back. I love this pink sweater right now! Anytime I want my outfit to feel a little more colorful during winter, I reach for it. I really love wearing wide-leg jeans like this with sneakers, but because these jeans are a little long on me, I opted for a platform sneaker to give me some extra height.

Outfit 3: Cardigan + Bananda Scarf
I love wearing a cardigan buttoned up, and this one is one of my favorites. To add a pop of color to this outfit, I styled my silk bandana scarf. This is such a great accessory to add to a neutral winter outfit. For shoes, I went with a tall boot. Tall boots pair beautifully in the winter with wide-leg jeans like this.

Outfit 4: Cropped Trench Coat + Cashmere Sweater
This outfit would make a great transitional spring look. I went with a cropped trench coat layered over my cashmere sweater from Quince. A cropped trench has much less material than a traditional trench, which makes it a great layering option with full-length, wide-leg jeans. For shoes, I chose my slip-on black heeled booties.
