This collection is truly a dream come true. As a little girl, I always dreamed of designing clothes, but somewhere along the way, I convinced myself that path wasn’t meant for me. Seeing this collection come to life from my own ideas has been such a full-circle moment.

Behind the Capsule Wardrobe Collection
When Dear John Denim asked me to design a capsule wardrobe collection, I knew I couldn’t turn down the opportunity. Over the last few years, I’ve shared regular mom-friendly capsule wardrobe blog posts that have become some of my most popular content. So I knew that if I designed pieces I would personally include in one of my capsule wardrobes, it would really resonate with my followers.
I’ve created a 20-piece capsule wardrobe formula that works so well when building a versatile collection of clothing. Within that formula are what I call the hero pieces of your wardrobe. Hero wardrobe pieces are those go-to clothes you reach for again and again—they’re timeless, versatile, and effortless.
This capsule wardrobe is centered around those hero wardrobe staples. It includes an elevated basic top, a pop-of-pattern button-down shirt, a tailored blazer, colored pants, go-to jeans, and a wear-anywhere dress. These are the pieces that make getting dressed easier and help you create so many outfit combinations with less in your closet.
I also wanted this collection to feel very mom-friendly. As a mom of two young kids, I’m always thinking about whether clothes are actually practical for real life. Can you bend over comfortably? Is your bra going to show? Are the tops easy to tuck? Will your tummy show? Are the pieces nursing-friendly? I kept all of those little details in mind while designing this collection because I know they matter.
And since we’re talking about moms, this collection has an extra special meaning to me because I named each piece after the mothers in my family who mean so much to me. I didn’t want to have their names directly written on the clothing, so instead, I researched the meanings behind each of their names and used that inspiration to name each piece.

Sunny
One of my favorite wardrobe staples is an elevated basic top. I love a simple top that can go with everything, but I always like adding a little extra detail to make it feel special. This elevated basic top is a simple V-neck tee with lace trim around the bottom, neckline and sleeves. It’s 100% cotton and comes in both white and black, which I love because having those two classic options makes it even more versatile.
When I was designing this top, I really wanted to make sure it was practical for everyday wear. I chose a V-neck because one of my biggest pet peeves is getting makeup on my white tops when the neckline is too high. The V-neck solves that problem while still being high enough that your bra won’t show and you can comfortably bend over to pick up your toddler without worrying. It’s also easy to tuck into pants, jeans, or a skirt, which makes styling it feel effortless.

Bella
I almost always include a button-down shirt in my capsule wardrobe posts, so I knew I had to have one in this collection. This pink and white striped button-down top is the perfect way to add a little polish and personality to your spring and summer wardrobe. It’s one of those pieces that instantly makes an outfit feel more put together.
I especially love the cuff sleeve details on this top because I really wanted something with a little fun flair. It still feels classic, but those small details make it feel special. Another thing I was intentional about was making sure it would be easy to style and tuck into your pants. I sometimes struggle with button-down shirts that have too much extra fabric and feel bulky. This top has a slightly higher cut, which makes styling it simple, flattering, and effortless.

Faith
I always include a pair of colored pants in my capsule wardrobe posts, and nine times out of ten, they’re green. Green has always been one of my favorite colors, so I was so happy with how this shade turned out. It’s the perfect soft, versatile green that still feels neutral and easy to style.
These pants were inspired by Dear John Denim’s Audrey pants, which I originally fell in love with because of the soft, comfortable fabric and flattering fit. I chose that same stretchy material for this pair, so even though you can dress them up, they might feel like your favorite everyday sweatpants. They stay comfortable all day and hold their shape without losing their fit.
The cropped wide-leg style is one of my personal favorites. They have a high rise with a flattering fit through the hips, thighs, and back. That makes them both comfortable and easy to wear. They’re polished enough to dress up, but relaxed enough for everyday life. They are the kind of pants you’ll keep reaching for again and again.

A capsule wardrobe collection would not be complete without a great pair of jeans. I am such a jeans girl! There are so many styles of jeans I love, but for this pair, I wanted something timeless. The goal was to create jeans that feel simple, classic, and easy to wear for almost any occasion.
A cropped straight-leg style in a medium wash felt like the perfect choice because it never goes out of style. It’s flattering, easy to wear, and works with everything from sneakers to sandals to heels. There’s no distressing, which makes them feel more polished and gives you more styling options. You can wear them to work, dress them up for date night, or keep them casual for a trip to the park with your kids.
The perfect balance of structure and comfort was also important. These jeans hold their shape but still feel good to wear all day. They’re the kind of jeans you reach for without even thinking because they work with everything in your closet. That, to me, is a true hero wardrobe staple.

Honor
For my layering piece, a blazer was the obvious choice. A blazer can instantly elevate any outfit. It is one of those wardrobe staples that makes getting dressed easier.
When I first started building a more intentional wardrobe, one of the first pieces I bought was a blazer. It made my outfits feel more polished and put together. That is exactly the feeling I wanted to create with this one.
The goal was a classic fit. Nothing too oversized and nothing too cropped. Just something timeless that would last for years in your wardrobe. You can wear it with jeans and a tee, over a dress, or with trousers for a dressier look. It is a piece that works hard for you.
I usually love lighter neutral colors for blazers, so I chose a beautiful cream color. It feels fresh, versatile, and easy to style all year long. My favorite detail is the pink and white striped lining on the inside. I love a good liner! That little pop of pattern when you roll the sleeves adds so much personality and makes the blazer feel extra special.

Grace
The last piece in this capsule wardrobe collection is a midi chambray dress. I love wearing dresses because they are one of the easiest things to throw on. They instantly make you feel pretty and put together. This dress was designed to be soft, comfortable, flattering, and easy to wear for many different occasions.
It is the kind of dress you can wear to brunch, church, family photos, or on vacation. It also works for a regular day when you want to feel a little more put together without trying too hard. The feminine details, flattering fit, and easy shape make it a piece you will keep reaching for year after year.
