Happy 2024 my friends! Today I am talking all about how to wear brown Chelsea boots. I have had today’s post in my drafts for a while now. With the busy holiday season, I kept needing to postpone this post. But today I figure it’s a new year and a good post, so why not get it out of my drafts?

In a recent collaboration with maurice, I showcased how to pair jeans with boots. One of the pairs of boots I featured was this cute and affordable pair of brown Chelsea boots. (Last I checked the brown color of this pair of boots had sold out, but I also have another great affordable option to shop HERE!) I have styled how to wear black Chelsea boots in a few different posts here on the blog (HERE, HERE and HERE), but I felt that these brown Chelsea boots deserved a post of their own.
Brown Chelsea Boots to Shop
I have always loved wearing brown boots in the winter, but brown can often be tricky to style for some people. There’s a common misbelief that black and brown should never be mixed. If you are still following this outdated rule, please forget it! In my experience, the combination of brown and black blends seamlessly for a stylish and modern look, especially in this rich cognac shade.
Here are some looks that I put together styling brown Chelsea boots.
Outfit 1: Leggings + Sweater + Button Down + Brown Chelsea Boots
Leggings and Chelsea boots are always my go-to combination. For this look, I paired them with a neutral-colored sweater layered over a white button-down. I always feel that adding a white button-down gives a dressy feel that helps balance out the comfy leggings.
Outfit 2: Burgandy Corduroy Jeans + Black Sweater + Brown Chelsea Boots
I always find it fun to add a pop of color to my bottoms. This pair of corduroy pants are such a great option and they fit perfectly with my brown Chelsea boots. They are a cropped boot-cut style of pants, which I have in a regular length. At 5’1, they are slightly long for a cropped cut, but I like the length. It’s perfect to style with boots.
Outfit 3: Black Straight Jeans + Stripe Shirt + Coatigan + Brown Chelsea Boots
Black jeans always pair nicely with Chelsea boots. To help mix the brown and black colors I brought in a neutral layer with my khaki-colored coatigan. I shared the same look in my mom-friendly winter capsule wardrobe post a few weeks ago, but I styled it with my black Chelsea boots.
Outfit 4: Leggings + Boot Socks + Striped Sweater + Brown Chelsea Boots
Adding boot socks with leggings and Chelsea boots is a great way to cozy up the look! I am all about striped sweaters this winter! I always love stripes, but this year I have been so drawn to them!
Outfit 5: Skinny Jeans + Colored Sweater + Brown Chelsea Boots
Stop listening to people who tell you you look out of style if you wear skinny jeans. In my opinion, practical clothes can’t be out of style. To me, skinny jeans are very practical in the wintertime. They are the easiest style of jeans to pair with boots in the winter. You can tuck them right into your boot and you don’t need to worry about your pants getting wet in the snow. For me, that is a reason to keep skinny jeans a part of my wardrobe.
Outfit 6: Slim Straight-leg Jeans + Brown Chelsea Boots
I find slim straight-leg jeans a great way to pair my Chelsea boots with jeans. It’s the perfect style of jeans to help you break free from your skinny jeans if you are looking for a more modern look. I like something with a cropped fit because I don’t want my jeans to get wet in the winter weather. I usually wear a boot sock under my jeans to keep my ankles covered and warm.
