One of my favorite series to do over on Instagram is called Pinterest Looks on a Budget. This is when I take an outfit that I have saved to one of my Pinterest boards and I recreate it with the budget-friendly clothes I own in my closet. I love sharing how to look stylish on a budget. That’s why I wanted to bring some of my favorite Pinterest looks over to the blog.

Finding Inspiration on Pinterest
Pinterest has been my go-to place for style inspiration for many years. After I graduated college I found myself in a bit of a style rut. I wasn’t sure how to dress for adult life, because most of my outfit inspiration came from my friends. I was no longer living with my college roommates and I was struggling to figure out what to wear.
When Pinterest came along, it helped boost me out of my post-college style rut. At first, I saved outfits for inspiration, dreaming that one day I would have enough money to buy those designer clothes. But then I realized that I could wear the outfits I was saving. When I started to break down the clothes in my closet, I was able to recreate these stylish looks on my budget.
Ever since then, I have been using Pinterest as my go-to place for style inspiration. Whenever I am stuck and not sure what to wear, I go over to my Pinterest page and look through the outfits that I have saved. It always offers me inspiration and can help me get out of a style rut.
How to look stylish on a budget?
When it comes to Pinterest, oftentimes people have the boards but don’t know how to bring the outfits to life. So how do you look stylish on a budget when using Pinterest? Here are some tips on what I do to recreate the looks I love.
- Break down the outfit piece by piece. Sometimes when you look at a whole outfit together it can be overwhelming. But when you look at the outfit piece by piece you might start to realize that you already own some of the pieces.
- Get creative with your own wardrobe. Just because you don’t own everything that the girl in the picture on Pinterest is wearing, doesn’t mean that you can’t work with what you do have. Let’s say that the outfit you love is a pair of straight-leg jeans with a blazer and a white tee. Maybe you already have a white T-shirt and blazer, but you don’t have straight-leg jeans. That’s okay. You can always recreate the look with a pair of jeans that you own.
- Find something in common with all the outfits you are pinning. When you look at all the outfits that you are pinning on your boards for inspiration, what is one piece that keeps coming up? Is there a certain style you love, or maybe it’s a color combination? Look for those styles in your wardrobe.
- Make a wishlist of items you would like to add to your wardrobe. If you notice that there is one particular item that keeps popping up in the pins and you don’t already own it, then maybe that’s something that you would like to purchase. Add it to a wishlist and start shopping for it.
- When shopping for your wishlist items, thrift or shop the looks for less. Thrifting is always a great way to find classic wardrobe staples. I often use shopping secondhand as an opportunity to splurge on more expensive brands that I would typically not spend full price new for. Although I do love the deals you can find at your local thrift stores, I do prefer online thrifting these days for convenience. If you aren’t a thrifter, it’s easy to find designer look-a-like pieces through stores like Amazon and even Target. One way I like to search is by uploading the photo you have into Amazon Lens at the search bar. This will pull up items that look similar to the one in your picture.
My Recreated Stylish Pinterest Outfits
Outfit #1
This outfit caught my eye because I loved the camel, black, and white color combination. It’s always a classic style! I don’t typically tie my sweaters around my shoulders, but I gave it a try and really loved how it looked. I love it when I am inspired to wear something old in my closet in a new way. This is another white, camel, and black color combination outfit. These are just such easy neutral colors to wear. I recreated this look with an Amazon black blouse and my white Paige jeans that I thrifted from Goodwill Finds last spring for $9.99!! I loved her purse so much, that I ended up buying a similar style purse from LOFT, but for this outfit, I just used this thrifted brown purse. (Original Post- HERE)

This all-black look is a fun winter look! My faux leather skirt and oversized blazer are both from ThredUP. I also wore my favorite Chelsea boots which are always a big hit in winter. I feel like you can always look stylish on a budget with an all-black outfit. (Original post- HERE)

Outfit 4
This outfit never made it to Instagram, but I still wanted to share it. When I found this look on Pinterest, I knew I could recreate it with this striped Amazon sweater. I typically wouldn’t wear this sweater with a pair of straight-leg jeans, but I really loved how she had it styled in this post, so I went ahead and tried it out. (Original post- HERE)

I wore this outfit last fall on an afternoon date with my husband and it was so cute! I wore one of my favorite pairs of black jeans that I have have in my closet. The sweater is from Amazon and the blazer was thrifted. My black Kate Spade purse is also thrifted. I will definitely be re-wearing this outfit once it gets cold out again. (Original Outfit- HERE)
