I haven’t been shy about sharing my style struggles this season. It’s been colder and snowier than in recent years, making it even harder to balance comfort, warmth, and style. But it’s not impossible! Here are some easy ways to elevate your outfits this winter…
1.) Elevate your winter coats

In the winter, my coat is a major part of my outfit. Whether you’re running errands or heading out to dinner, your coat will likely be on for most of the time. That’s why it’s so important to have at least one coat in your wardrobe that elevates your look.
For me, my go-to elevated coat is my camel wool dad coat. It’s a classic that never goes out of style—and best of all, it goes with everything! Dresses, workwear, leggings, sweatpants—you name it. If you want to go beyond a camel wool coat, consider a plaid or houndstooth print, a bold pop of color like pink or red, or a timeless wrap coat.
Watch your footwear!

Winter shoes are essential—you want them to be both stylish and practical. My go-to styles in the winter are boots and sneakers, depending on the weather and road conditions. If it’s cold, snowy, or slushy, I’ll be in boots. But on drier, sunnier days, I often reach for sneakers.
When it comes to boots, a good pair of snow boots is a must if you live in a snowy climate, but they shouldn’t be your everyday go-to. There are plenty of stylish winter boots to try. Here are some of my favorites:
- Chelsea boots
- Hiking boots
- Pointed-toe neutral booties
- Tall boots
For sneakers, most styles work well, but I avoid white canvas sneakers since they get dirty easily and are harder to clean. Instead, I prefer materials that can be wiped down with a rag. And because winter can be so messy, I often choose a more affordable sneaker over my expensive name-brand ones. Stores like Amazon, Target, and Walmart offer great prices on sneakers, and their quality is surprisingly good!
Don’t forget about winter accessories

You can elevate any winter outfit with the right accessories. Hats, gloves, scarves, and socks not only add style but also keep you warm. My go-to is a pop-of-pattern scarf—I love adding one to my solid-colored coats to instantly enhance the look.
Invest in fleece-lined staples

In the winter, I practically live in leggings. They’re the easiest pants to pair with boots and look great with cozy sweaters and sweatshirts. The only downside? They can be cold! That’s why having a pair of fleece-lined leggings in my closet has been a game-changer.
I also feel like my skirts and dresses get neglected in the winter because bare legs are too cold, and regular tights don’t always provide enough warmth. That’s where fleece-lined tights come in—they keep your legs toasty while still letting you dress up!
Another winter essential for me is fleece-lined joggers. They’re perfect for lounging around the house or running errands while staying warm and comfortable.
Hopefully, you can apply these tips to your own wardrobe! And just remember that winter will end! Don’t let the cold weather stop you from looking and feeling your best!
