I recently found the cutest sweater dress at Walmart! It’s from the Free Assembly brand, and it’s so good! The quality is great, and the price point is perfect at only $26. Today, I’m styling it five ways to show you how to wear a sweater dress this fall!

I’m not sure why, but I struggle to find sweater dresses that I really love. They’re often big and bulky or too thick, which makes them hard to layer. This sweater dress is perfect because it’s soft and super easy to layer. What I really love about it is that it’s sleeveless — it works great now during the early fall months, but you can layer it both over and under as the weather cools off.
Today, I’m sharing five fall outfit ideas to show you how you can style this dress.
How to Wear a Sweater Dress for Fall
Outfit 1: Tall Boots + Scarf
A trend I’ve been really loving this fall is bandana scarves. They’re such a fun accessory to add to your outfit for a little extra detail. I styled this sweater dress with a bandana scarf from Walmart and paired it with brown faux suede tall boots. This is such a fun way to wear this dress while the weather is still warm.

Outfit 2: Denim Jacket + Sneakers
For this second look, I went with a more casual vibe. I’m loving brown suede sneakers this fall — and this pair from Walmart is one of my favorites. I even included them in my fall capsule wardrobe! They look so cute with this dress. For a layer, I added my favorite ABLE denim jacket and finished the look with my new Quince crossbody purse.

Outfit 3: Blazer + Leopard Flats
This next look is a great option for the office. I love adding a blazer to a sweater dress — it’s such a simple way to layer and instantly make it look more professional. I chose a green blazer to add a pop of color, and for shoes, I went with my leopard Mary Jane flats from Walmart.

Outfit 4: Long-Sleeve Black Top + Burgundy Boots
Even though this sweater dress is sleeveless, I thought it would be perfect layered over a long-sleeve shirt for some extra warmth. I went with a black long-sleeve top underneath and added a belt to help define my waist. Burgundy is a popular color this fall, and I love these burgundy boots from Amazon — they add just the right pop of color to this otherwise neutral look.

Outfit 5: White Button-Down Shirt + Scarf + Heels
Lastly, I wanted to create another office-ready look. I layered a white button-down shirt under the dress, added the scarf from the first outfit, and opted for heels instead of boots. I honestly love how this outfit turned out. It has a fun ’70s vibe to it, which makes it such a joy to wear!
