Every season, I always think that it’s fun to look at the trending colors. This fall one of the colors that has popped out at me lately, is this mossy green color. I’ve seen it in a few stores, so when I came across this chunky green cardigan at Old Navy I knew that I had to style it for the blog.
Green Chunky Cardigan
What I love about a color trend is that it’s an easy way to update your wardrobe for the season without spending a lot of money. Even after that color stops trending, you can keep wearing it without feeling out of style.
When I try a trending color, I like to choose a classic piece that I know I’ll wear over and over again. That’s why I went with this cozy, chunky cardigan. Below, I’m sharing all the ways I styled it!
Outfit 1: With a Navy Dress

This color of green and navy make such a pretty combination! I layered the cardigan over a navy eyelet dress and added a pearl necklace and nude pumps. The chunky knit makes the dress feel a little more relaxed while still looking dressed up. This is an easy way to bring a dress into fall when you need an extra layer.

With Black Wide Leg Jeans and a Scarf

For this look, I paired a white tee with black wide leg jeans and brown ankle boots. Wearing the cardigan open lets the tucked-in tee and high waist show, which helps give the outfit some shape. The little scarf around my neck adds interest to the simple pieces. It’s a small detail, but it changes the feel of the outfit!

With a Satin Midi Skirt

I love the mix of a chunky sweater with a smooth satin skirt. The brown skirt looks so pretty with the green, and leaving the lower buttons undone lets the cardigan sit open over the waistband. Nude pumps keep the look simple. This would be a pretty outfit for dinner or a fall gathering when you want to dress up a little.

Draped Over a White Tee

You don’t have to wear your cardigan as a sweater to include it in an outfit! Here, I draped it over my shoulders with a white tee, gray jeans, and loafers. The colorful necklace adds another playful detail. This is an easy option for those warmer fall afternoons when you want to have a layer with you for later.

With a Burgundy Pleated Skirt

Burgundy and green are such a pretty fall pairing. For this outfit, I buttoned the cardigan and tucked the front into a pleated midi skirt to show the waist. The soft knit and pleats give the outfit plenty of texture, so I kept the accessories simple with nude pumps and a cream quilted clutch. This would also be a fun outfit for the holiday season.

With Blue Jeans and Mary Jane Flats

For an everyday look, I paired the cardigan with blue wide leg jeans and brown Mary Jane flats. Buttoning the cardigan makes it easy to wear as a top, and a small front tuck helps define the waist. The flats keep it comfortable and casual. It’s a simple combination for a day when you want to feel put together without spending much time planning an outfit.
