Lately, Kevin and I have been trying to take advantage of our weekends together, by getting out and exploring new places. It’s been just the two of us for the last 4 1/2 years and that’s all about to change very soon, in a wonderful way!
Throwback Thursday- Baby Shower Outfit
I’ve been meaning to post my outfit that I wore a few weeks ago to my baby shower, but I just haven’t had a chance. I figured I’d do a throwback post about it today.
Just like any special occasion, I started searching for a dress for my shower way in advance. I looked at a lot of different maternity dresses online, I shopped around at a few stores and I basically struck out. I knew I wanted something blue, since I’m having a boy, and I also wanted something that would show off my baby bump. I ended up settling on a simple black maternity dress from Target. I ordered it online, but when it came in the mail, I realized just how big maternity clothes are. My 26-week bump barely filled out the x-small maternity dress. I decided to re-evaluate and take a closer look in my closet to see if I had any dresses that would work. I remembered this navy blue dress that I bought almost 4 years ago for my sister-in-law’s wedding. I remembered that I always really liked this dress, plus I found it for such a great price at TJ Maxx. I think it was only $19.99 when I bought it. Anyway, the dress worked out great. The material is nice and stretchy, and I was super comfortable in it all day. I accessories it with a tan sweater and nude pumps.

When it comes to planning an outfit for any special occasion, my best advice is to not overthink it and look to see what you already have in your closet before you spend money on something new. You can always accessorize differently and make it a whole new look!
Weekend Wardrobe- Maternity Style
In case you didn’t read my last post, I’m officially in my last trimester. YAY!! I’m super excited about this! I really want to make the most of these last few months and have fun dressing my baby bump.
I love that my last trimester is during the winter. Obviously, you can never completely plan out when you will be pregnant, but I have to say that I would love to be pregnant this time of the year again. I love wearing boots, scarves, and cardigans with my baby bump, and the weather has been perfect for that! Plus, I think I’d be really miserable in my last trimester during the hot Las Vegas summer months.
Here are my weekend outfits this week!
Saturday
Top- TJ Maxx
Jeggings- Old Navy
Shrug- Old Navy
Scarf- Kohl’s
Sunday
Dress- H&M
Cardigan- Target
Necklace- Charming Charlie
Boots- Target
Here is my baby bump picture for the week. I think I’m getting used to feeling uncomfortable all the time. This little man just loves to move into the strangest positions, making my stomach look really weird. He also likes to kick and feeling around all the time. It feels like I have a little cat inside me kneading me with its paws. I’m getting really excited to meet this active little guy.

Have a great week!
Second Trimester Outfit Review
This weekend was very exciting for me because I have been pregnant for 28 weeks, which means that I have officially entered my 3rd trimester of pregnancy! I can’t believe that I’m this far along. I feel like February is so close, yet so far away.
Since I’ve tried to post my outfits each week throughout my pregnancy, I thought that now would be the perfect time to post some of my favorite outfits from my second trimester. I had a lot of fun dressing my baby bump during this trimester. My baby has done so much growing in the past 3 months. One thing that I really liked about my second trimester was that I was able to get used out of all my normal clothes. I didn’t have to buy any actual “maternity” clothes this trimester, which is great when you’re trying to dress and shop on a budget during your pregnancy. The only maternity items that I did make a point of buying were a belly band (exact here) and a couple of maternity/nursing bras (exact here), both from Target. I learned quickly that your normal bras do not work with a growing body. I also felt that the belly band was an important purchase because it has allowed me to wear my normal jeans for a long time.
Here are 8 of my favorite outfits that I wore this trimester.

Overall, I have to say that the second trimester was pretty enjoyable. It was much better than the first trimester, even though I was still sick off and on during the 4th month, it was nothing compared to how I felt during the first few months. Some major high lights of the second trimester was; my ultrasound at 18 weeks when we found out that we were having a boy, getting to feel my baby boy move around in my belly more and more each week, and watching my belly grow.
Now that I’m in my last stretch of pregnancy, I’m sure I’ll have some more maternity outfits to share. I’m getting to the point where I’ll have to start investing in a few maternity items, so look to see what I come up with.
Making the Most of Your Favorite Maternity Clothes- Fitted Striped Dress
Shopping is inevitable when you’re pregnant. Your body is slowly outgrowing your normal wardrobe, so you’re constantly thinking you need new clothes. It’s important not to go broke shopping for maternity clothes though. For me, I feel that it’s important to have a few staple clothing items in your closet to stick to during your pregnancy. Simple dresses, jeans. long tank tops and t-shirts are all great items to have while dressing your growing bump. For me, it’s all about accessorizing my staple pieces and creating a new outfit each time I wear them.
I recently bought this striped long sleeve dress at H&M (similar here, here and here). It’s from their normal women’s department. I just bought it a size bigger than I usually would buy. I love this dress because it can be dressed down or dressed up. It’s a great staple maternity dress that I hope to get a lot of use out of before and after the baby’s arrival.
Here are some ways that I was able to wear the dress and accessorize it a little differently to create a new look each time.
In this first look, I mixed my prints. I like to sometimes mix leopard print with stripes, so here I wore a leopard infinity scarf and leopard flats.
For this look here, I accessorized with a black boyfriend cardigan and green statement necklace. For shoes, I wore black flats. I love adding a pop of color with a statement necklace whenever I wear a simple dress like this.
I’ll be going home to Michigan during Christmas break, so I’m hoping I’ll get a chance to wear some of my favorite winter accessories. For this look, I wore black tights with leg warmers, boots, and a pink knit infinity scarf. It’s a nice cozy winter look.
For this look, I wore my black boyfriend cardigan again, with a hot pink belt and wedge shoes. Again I tried to add a pop of color, this time using the belt to accessorize.
I plan on making the most out of all my favorite maternity staple clothes. You can definitely look for more posts like this. I need to find a way to keep myself out of the stores, and looking more into what I can work within my own closet. Hopefully, you can be inspired to find ways to accessorize your simple clothing items.
Weekend Wardrobe- Maternity Style
This weekend was a quiet one for me. With Thanksgiving at the end of the week and a trip to California next weekend, I figured me and baby could use the rest. Saturday I mostly lounged around in yoga pants, so I didn’t feel that outfit was anything cute enough to post. On Sunday I was still lounging, but I decided to dress up my comfy house look a bit.
Here’s what I wore.
Sunday
Leggings- Forever 21
Sweater- Target
Boots- Target
Necklace- Charming Charlie
I didn’t get a chance to post a bump update last week, so here’s my baby bump update for this week. It feels like my belly is huge, but when I look, I realize that there is still a lot of room for him to grow. I’ve been pretty uncomfortable lately, but I’m trying to stay positive and enjoy this whole experience. I still have 3 whole months to go. I guess no one ever said it was easy to grow a human.
