It’s hard for me to believe that an entire month has gone by since we welcomed our little Anna into the world. In some ways, I feel like she’s been here forever and in other ways, I feel like it was just yesterday I was at the hospital giving birth. A lot happens in those first weeks, so I just wanted to share a baby update and postpartum update. Read more
My Birth Story- Baby #2 Successful VBAC
Warning: this post is pretty long, but I tried to record everything from my birth story. I don’t want to forget anything. I not only want to share my story with all of you but I also want to have it as a memory for myself to look back on.
If you read my birth story for Jack, (Read that story HERE) you already know that he was born by c-section. It was unexpected and caused because his head was facing up and no matter how hard I pushed he wouldn’t come out. I was never against having another c-section birth, but I wanted to avoid it if I could. A c-section is major abdominal surgery and I worried how I’d recover with a newborn and a 4-year-old at home with me. My first choice was to try a VBAC first and let the baby come naturally. I also knew that I didn’t want to go past that 40-week mark, so I scheduled a back-up repeat c-section for 39 weeks. I honestly didn’t know what to expect this time around, so I prepared myself for anything.
Postpartum Essentials for Mom
If I learned one thing from my last pregnancy, it’s that babies will come when they are ready and they don’t care if you are ready or not. Jack was born 10 days early, which shouldn’t have been a big deal, but I was a first-time mom and I thought for sure my baby would be late. I had nothing prepared for postpartum. Luckily I had a lot of help. This time around it’s just going to be me and Kevin at home with the baby for the first week or so. I know we will be fine, but I also know that he’s not going to be wanting to run out to the store every day to buy me things like pads and granny panties. That’s why this time around I’m trying to stock up on all my postpartum essentials ahead of time. Read more
Retirement Planning 101
I’m often asked questions about how Kevin and I have been successful at saving money and planning for our retirement. I never know exactly how to explain it to people. I have a hard time explaining all the technical terms and details. That’s why I asked Kevin to write a special post for me about all the basic things you need to know about retirement planning. He’s explaining what accounts you should have, how much money you should save, and where to invest. Read more
My Thoughts as I Prepare to Become a Mom of 2
Growing up, I always knew I wanted to get married and become a mom. I never questioned that. I always wanted to have two kids, a boy, and a girl. I guess you can say that I’m getting everything I always wanted. As my due date approaches and I get closer and closer to becoming a mom of 2 I’m having all kinds of emotions about it. I’m so excited because I can’t believe I’m going to have a baby in my arms soon, but I’m also nervous and scared about adding on another child to our family.Read more
35 Week Baby Bump Update
Unless I get an unexpected boost of energy between now and the time the baby is born, this is probably going to be my last baby bump update post. It’s hard to believe, but super exciting at the same time. Even though it seems like I still have some time before this baby arrives, I know that 4 weeks are going to fly by. I still have so many things to do and absolutely no motivation to get it all done. Even though this pregnancy has been much different than I ever could have expected, I’m still trying to make the most of it and soak it all in. It’s getting much harder though as the weeks go by. I am just so excited to meet my little girl and I can’t wait to hold her in my arms.Read more
