Maternity Outfits You Can Wear Before, During, and After Pregnancy

Maternity outfits that you can wear before, during and after your pregnancy

I don’t know why, but maternity fashion is always overwhelming for most pregnant women.  I think that we tell ourselves that we are supposed to dress in a different way because we are pregnant and our bodies are growing.  We tell ourselves that we need to buy “maternity clothes”.  The truth is, when it comes to your maternity fashion, nothing needs to change.  You can wear the same outfits that you always wore before you were pregnant, and you can continue to wear those outfits long after your pregnancy.  All you need to do is invest in a few maternity pieces here and there (read more on what maternity clothes to buy HERE) to help fit over your growing belly, but overall, you should be able to get by with buying the bare minimum amount of maternity clothes.

What to Buy in the Maternity Department and What Not to Buy

January 10, 2021 by Katie Haller

Maternity jeans are an important purchase to make in the maternity department.
One thing that I really enjoyed about being pregnant was dressing my growing baby bump.  It was a fun challenge for me to come up with cute outfits that made me feel good about myself but also keep me comfortable.  I feel like it can be really confusing at the beginning and a little overwhelming when you think about a maternity wardrobe.  Some people might think that you need to buy all your clothes in the maternity department when you are pregnant, but that’s not the case at all.  Obviously, every woman is built differently and everyone starts showing at different times, but I still believe that most women can get away with buying only a few basic maternity items in the maternity department.

Maternity clothes are often expensive and unless you plan on having a big family and being pregnant multiple times, it’s really not worth the money to buy too many maternity items.  During my first pregnancy, I got away with only buying 2 maternity items.  During my second pregnancy, I made a few extra maternity purchases, but it wasn’t much more than my first.

Why I Love my Belly Bandit C-Section Shorts

July 17, 2020 by Katie Haller

Belly Bandit C-Section Shorts
Let’s talk about postpartum recovery for a minute.  It’s not an easy process.  For me, after sharing my body with another human for 9 months, I got very excited about getting my body back.  It’s exciting to think about all the clothes that you can wear again and just how much more comfortable it is without a baby pressing against your insides.  The problem is, postpartum recovery takes time.  It’s much more than just recovering from childbirth.  Your body needs to heal from the pregnancy too.

35 Week Baby Bump Update

May 18, 2020 by Katie Haller

35 Week Baby Bump Update
Unless I get an unexpected boost of energy between now and the time the baby is born, this is probably going to be my last baby bump update post.  It’s hard to believe, but super exciting at the same time. Even though it seems like I still have some time before this baby arrives, I know that 4 weeks are going to fly by.  I still have so many things to do and absolutely no motivation to get it all done.  Even though this pregnancy has been much different than I ever could have expected, I’m still trying to make the most of it and soak it all in.  It’s getting much harder though as the weeks go by.  I am just so excited to meet my little girl and I can’t wait to hold her in my arms.Read more

How to Style a Simple Black Fitted Maternity Dress

May 6, 2020 by Katie Haller

How to style a simple black fitted maternity dress

Here I am in the last trimester of my second pregnancy.  I’d like to say that I learned a little more about the basics of maternity style this time around.  I learned what I like and what I don’t like when it comes to maternity clothes.  I will say that my last pregnancy was a little more fun to dress for.  I had fun finding new ways to dress my bump and be creative with my non-maternity clothes.  This pregnancy, I’ve tried to stick more to comfort over creativity.

Fitted Maternity Dress- An Easy Outfit for Your Third Trimester

April 20, 2020 by Katie Haller

Fitted maternity dress
Being quarantined at home was not the way I had expected to spend my third trimester.  I have been looking forward to spring my entire pregnancy because I knew once it warmed up I’d be able to wear dresses.  Dresses are really one of the most comfortable things to wear when you are pregnant.  After wearing leggings almost non-stop my entire pregnancy, I’m sick of them.  I’m ready to pull out all my favorite dresses, that I can still fit into of course.  Being stuck at home isn’t going to stop me from dressing cute this spring.

One style of dress that I am a huge fan of while pregnant is a fitted dress.  I love being able to show off my baby bump.  I don’t know about you, but I feel that pregnancy is really the only time in your life that you can really accentuate your mid-section and be proud of your belly.  No need to try to suck in.  You might as well take advantage of it while you can.
Once you hit your 3rd trimester, it’s nice to have one or two fitted maternity dresses.  I have been able to get away with wearing most of my non-maternity dresses that are bump-friendly, but when it comes to my fitted dresses, it’s nice to have extra stretchy material in a maternity dress.
Today’s look is all about showing off my growing bump.  This cute fitted maternity dress (HERE) was gifted to me from Sexy Mama Maternity.  I love how it shows off all my baby curves.  The little tie on the side really helps to show off my growing baby bump.  It’s also super comfortable, so it works just fine for hanging out around the house.
