Effortless Summer Mom Capsule Wardrobe 2025

It’s time for the summer mom capsule wardrobe for 2025! Without the layers, summer can be a tricky season to make your wardrobe feel versatile. That’s why I have filled this capsule wardrobe with some pieces that will help you get dressed this summer and find new ways to wear your clothes each day!

What is a Capsule Wardrobe

If you are new to my mom-friendly capsule wardrobe series that I do here at TWHL, then let me tell you a little about it! Each season, I put together an easy-to-style mom capsule wardrobe to help moms feel a little more put together in their everyday lives.

I believe that getting dressed should be the easiest part of your day, yet so many women, especially moms, feel overwhelmed by what to wear. Having a capsule wardrobe can help take the guesswork out of getting dressed. With a few versatile, go-to pieces, you’ll always have something to wear that makes you feel confident and put together, without the stress of sorting through a cluttered closet.

What’s in the summer mom capsule wardrobe for 2025

This summer mom capsule wardrobe is all about keeping things simple, stylish, and functional for busy moms. I picked out some versatile staples like basic tank tops, t-shirts, and denim shorts, but I also included a few trendier pieces to mix in. As always, I try to keep my shoes practical and comfortable, so I’ve included a few different options to suit your day-to-day needs.

I know summer isn’t much of a layering season, but I still like to include a couple of options. I always find myself reaching for an extra layer, especially when the A/C is blasting. And of course, you can’t forget about accessories in the summer—simple pieces can do a lot to elevate your outfits without much effort!

Tops:

White Tank Top (small) – A white tank top is a summer basic you’ll want to have in your wardrobe. It goes with everything! I am wearing this Amazon tank top in the outfits below, but I’m also a fan of these two tank tops that I own [HERE] and [HERE]!
Black Button-Down Tank Top (x-small) – Another summer wardrobe staple for me is a black tank top. For this capsule, I chose one with buttons. I felt it was a great elevated basic to have, plus I’ve been seeing them everywhere this summer!
Striped Crewneck T-Shirt (small) – This striped t-shirt is a repeat from my spring capsule wardrobe! I love a good navy-and-white striped basic top in the summer. It’s perfect to wear around Memorial Day, the 4th of July, and all summer long!
Striped Sweater Vest (x-small) – I found this striped sweater vest at Walmart, and I thought it would be a great elevated piece to add to my summer capsule wardrobe. I like how it dresses up my outfits and adds a bit of a preppy look!
Chambray Button-Down Shirt (medium) – I love a good button-down shirt in the summer! It’s a great layering piece, or you can wear it on its own. I went with this soft chambray shirt from Maurices because it’s easy to style with shorts or over dresses!

Layers:

Denim Jacket (X-Small) – I always keep my denim jacket on hand in the summertime because you never know when you might need a layer. My favorite is my ABLE denim jacket—it’s the best investment piece I own! It’s also lightweight, making it perfect for summer!
Lightweight Cardigan (x-xmall) – Another great summer layer is a lightweight cardigan. I love this one from Old Navy [HERE]! It’s been one of my most-worn pieces since I bought it this spring, and I know I’ll be wearing it a lot throughout the summer months as well.

One-Pieces:

Romper (Small) – I love a good romper in the summer! They’re comfortable and easy to wear. I love throwing one on with a pair of sandals when it’s hot out—they make feeling stylish in the summer so effortless!
Sundress (Small) – Everyone needs a cute sundress for summer! I really love this one from maurices [HERE], but I’ve also linked some other great options [HERE] and [HERE].

Bottoms

Denim Shorts (25) – A good pair of everyday denim shorts is always a summer staple for me. When it comes to denim shorts, you have to find a pair that you feel comfortable in. I pay close attention to the rise and inseam of my shorts. That’s why I love these dad shorts from Abercrombie—they’re high-waisted with a 5-inch inseam, which makes them feel long but not overly long. They’re perfect for everyday wear!
White Denim Shorts (25) – I also love having a pair of white shorts in my summer wardrobe. They can really elevate your everyday outfits. I love the dad shorts so much that I went with the white pair as well!
Athletic Skort (Small) – I love wearing athletic pieces in the summer! They’re casual and perfect for hot weather. I’m a big fan of athletic skorts—I love that you can pair them with all sorts of tops. They’re cute on the outside, but also practical with the built-in bike shorts underneath! I’m especially loving this pleated skort from Amazon that I’m sharing in this post.
Green Linen Pants (x-small/petite) – This is another repeat from my spring capsule. I know these linen pants will be a great summer option. They’re lightweight, comfortable, and easy to style.
Floral Maxi Skirt Code: THRIFTYWIFE10 for 10% off (XX-Small) – This floral maxi skirt is one of my favorite new pieces. I’m really loving long, flowy maxi skirts at the moment—they remind me of some of my favorite skirts from the past. This one is versatile and adds a fun, feminine touch to your summer wardrobe! Shoes:

Sneakers – Sneakers are a must for me in the summer! I always wear them to the park, the zoo, or anywhere I know I’ll be walking around a lot. I went with my Adidas Sambas again in this capsule because they are still going strong as my favorite sneakers in my wardrobe!
Casual Sandals – I love having easy, throw-on-and-go sandals in my summer wardrobe. These slides from maurices are a great, affordable alternative to Birkenstock sandals. I also lined a few other pairs I’ve been loving this summer!
Elevated Sandals – I always like to have a more elevated pair of sandals for summer—something you can wear every day that still has a little extra style compared to your casual ones. These Madden Girl sandals were my favorite last year, so I decided to go with them again, but I also love this similar slide style from Target. I have them in brown and shared them in last year’s summer mom capsule wardrobe!

Accessories:

Belts – Belts are a great way to elevate your summer outfits! Without layers in the summertime, accessories can be a powerful tool to make your outfits look and feel more interesting. I went with my two-pack of tan and black belts from Amazon. I like buying my belts in a 2-pack because it gives you 2 different color options!
Sun Hat – Hats are a must for me in the summer to protect my head and face from the sun. I love my Amazon straw fedora hats—they’re fun to wear and feel a bit dressier than my usual baseball caps (which you could always add as a bonus option!).
Sunglasses – You always need a good pair of sunglasses for summer. This pair from Amazon is going strong into its fourth summer of daily wear! I especially love them because they fit comfortably on my face—even with a hat. That’s probably why I wear them so much!
