Helping women love what they wear on a budget

Postpartum Summer Outfits

July 22, 2020 by Katie Haller

Postpartum nursing-friendly summer outfits
It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything fashion-related posts on here, so I figured today I’d share a few of my favorite postpartum summer outfits.  I completely forgot how busy life can get with a newborn.  They eat and poop around the clock.  Add a busy 4-year-old to the mix and your outfits get put on hold.  That’s why I’ve been pretty much rotated through the same outfits over the last month or so.  I’ve mostly just been wearing rompers and jumpsuits every day.  I love them because they are cute, comfortable, and effortless.  They take no thought to throw on with a pair of sandals and you can call it a day.  I’ve also been loving anything with buttons and pockets.  Buttons are perfect for nursing and the pockets are great for putting pacifiers and other necessities that I don’t have enough hands to carry with a baby in them.

Why I Love my Belly Bandit C-Section Shorts

July 17, 2020 by Katie Haller

Belly Bandit C-Section Shorts
Let’s talk about postpartum recovery for a minute.  It’s not an easy process.  For me, after sharing my body with another human for 9 months, I got very excited about getting my body back.  It’s exciting to think about all the clothes that you can wear again and just how much more comfortable it is without a baby pressing against your insides.  The problem is, postpartum recovery takes time.  It’s much more than just recovering from childbirth.  Your body needs to heal from the pregnancy too.

One Month Baby Update + One Month Postpartum

July 15, 2020 by Katie Haller

One month baby update
It’s hard for me to believe that an entire month has gone by since we welcomed our little Anna into the world.  In some ways, I feel like she’s been here forever and in other ways, I feel like it was just yesterday I was at the hospital giving birth.  A lot happens in those first weeks, so I just wanted to share a baby update and postpartum update. My Birth Story- Baby #2 Successful VBAC

June 21, 2020 by Katie Haller

Birth Story
Warning: this post is pretty long, but I tried to record everything from my birth story.  I don’t want to forget anything.  I not only want to share my story with all of you but I also want to have it as a memory for myself to look back on.
If you read my birth story for Jack, (Read that story HERE) you already know that he was born by c-section.  It was unexpected and caused because his head was facing up and no matter how hard I pushed he wouldn’t come out.  I was never against having another c-section birth, but I wanted to avoid it if I could.  A c-section is major abdominal surgery and I worried how I’d recover with a newborn and a 4-year-old at home with me.  My first choice was to try a VBAC first and let the baby come naturally.  I also knew that I didn’t want to go past that 40-week mark, so I scheduled a back-up repeat c-section for 39 weeks.  I honestly didn’t know what to expect this time around, so I prepared myself for anything.

Postpartum Essentials for Mom

June 8, 2020 by Katie Haller

Postpartum Essentials for Moms
If I learned one thing from my last pregnancy, it’s that babies will come when they are ready and they don’t care if you are ready or not.  Jack was born 10 days early, which shouldn’t have been a big deal, but I was a first-time mom and I thought for sure my baby would be late.  I had nothing prepared for postpartum.  Luckily I had a lot of help.  This time around it’s just going to be me and Kevin at home with the baby for the first week or so.  I know we will be fine, but I also know that he’s not going to be wanting to run out to the store every day to buy me things like pads and granny panties.  That’s why this time around I’m trying to stock up on all my postpartum essentials ahead of time. Retirement Planning 101

June 4, 2020 by Katie Haller

Retirement Planning 101
I’m often asked questions about how Kevin and I have been successful at saving money and planning for our retirement.  I never know exactly how to explain it to people.  I have a hard time explaining all the technical terms and details.  That’s why I asked Kevin to write a special post for me about all the basic things you need to know about retirement planning.  He’s explaining what accounts you should have, how much money you should save, and where to invest.   Read more
