Just like I shared my favorite clothes purchases of 2020 (Read about that HERE), I wanted to round up and review some of my beauty purchases of the year.  I know that many people might think that 2020 wasn’t the best year to be buying many beauty products since most of us spent the year at home, but for me, 2020 was all about beauty products, especially makeup.  Doing my makeup helped me get through the year.  It made me feel good about myself and helped give me some normalcy in my life during all the chaos of 2020.

Back in my teenage years and early ’20s having a tan was everything.  Growing up in Michigan, there was nothing better than coming back to school after a long vacation week with a golden tan to show off during the winter months.  It meant you went somewhere fun and sunny.  It was the best souvenir you could get.  I spent my summers laying out at the pool with my friends, only using a tanning oil with 8 SPF in it.  In the winter, I’d get a tanning package and lay in the tanning bed a couple times a week.  Winter was much more bearable when you had a nice tan.  After college, in my mid-20’s, I started to worry about the effects my skin might have from all those years of tanning.  I started to slow up on my sun exposure and test out spray tans.  Around the time of my wedding and some of my friend’s weddings, I got a few spray tans for the big events.  Unfortunately, those tans always left me looking orange and blotchy.  We’ve all seen the spray tanning episode of Friends and seen what happened to Ross.  That’s something I needed to avoid.

I’m always wondering what kind of makeup other people are using.  That’s why I love to share my favorite beauty products that I’m currently using.  Recently my makeup collection has been getting a little upgrade.  Nothing too crazy, but I have been trying out a few higher-end brands.  I figure I’m getting older and there are some items that I’ve been wanting to try out, so why not?

You guys must know by now that I’m a huge fan of budget makeup.  I do most of my makeup shopping at the grocery store because that’s what is convenient for me and they have the best prices. Well, every once in a while I get the itch to treat myself to some higher-end makeup.  I recently won a $25 gift card to Sephora through one of my voxbox campaigns I participated in with Influenster.  I was so excited because I haven’t shopped at Sephora in years!  I love Sephora, but my budget (and my husband) have kept me out of that store.  Getting a gift card was such a treat.
